Rain doesn’t make your windows dirty!

Rain does not make your windows dirty! Many times I hear from customers to said “I don’t want to have my windows cleaned because its going to rain and get them all dirty again,” – I have cleaned glass for a long time and I know what rain does to windows. Here’s why it’s a myth:

-Tap  water spots windows, but not rainwater – Rainwater itself will not spot a clean window but will spot a dirty window. The TDS (total dissolved solids) in rain is very low. The TDS of rain is under 10 where the water out of your tap may be 100, or 200. What is TDS? TDS is all the solids or “junk” in your water. Those solids are what spots your glass. TDS of under 10 it will dry clear without spots-if the glass is clean. If the window is already dirty then that rain will cause the dirt to move around and that dirt will look spotty.

- The occasional rain rinse – The bigger the overhang the dirtier the window. If you have a window that gets the occasional rinse from rain it will be cleaner than the window that never gets that rinse.

-Frequency of cleaning makes all the difference – Glass is a porous (yes, porous) washable surface. The more often you clean glass the less rain will spot (meaning moving around the dirt on the glass). We already know that rain itself won’t spot therefore if your windows are always clean it won’t spot when it does rain.

So for all of you that hold off having your windows cleaned because of rain, don’t let a myth get in the way of having beautiful windows. Without clean windows how will you be able to see the rainbow after the rain :).
